The Information Regulator of South Africa requires ALL public and private bodies to submit their annual reports for the 2024 financial year on all access to information requests they received and processed under the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA). This is a mandatory requirement, and all bodies must submit their reports, including private bodies which are required to furnish the Regulator with details on requests for access to records received and processed. The deadline for submission is 30 June 2024.When submitting the report, the information officer will be prompted to provide answers to a set of questions, covering the period from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, regardless of the organisation’s financial year-end date.
If an organisation fails to submit a report on time, the Regulator may conduct an assessment of the organisation’s compliance with the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA). This assessment may include a physical inspection and review of documents. Non-compliance with PAIA can lead to enforcement proceedings. To avoid this, organisations are advised to comply with their obligations under PAIA by submitting reports promptly.
