In terms of section83(4) of PAIA, the Information Officer (“IO”) of every private body must annually submit to the Regulator a report in respect of access to information requests.
PAIA (Promotion of Access to Information Act): PAIA, focuses on providing access to information. Its goal is to facilitate the exercise of the constitutional right to access any information held by the State, as well as any information held by private individuals or organisations. PAIA ensures transparency by promoting the availability and disclosure of information, subject to justifiable restrictions and limitations.
In terms of section 83(4) of PAIA, Heads of Private Bodies or Deputy Information Officers must submit their Annual Reports to the Regulator detailing all requests for access to records, regardless of whether any requests were actually received or processed by the private body. This submission is mandatory.
Please note that the portal for submission of access to information Annual Reports will be live from 01 May 2024 and the submission of the said annual reports will close on 30 June 2024.
