World Dohne Merino Conference 2026

The World Dohne Merino Conference runs from 18 to 24 October 2026 at the Arabella Hotel in Hermanus, hosted by the Dohne Merino Society of South Africa under the theme “Science, passion, excellence, Dohne!”. The conference coincides with the Society’s 60th anniversary and brings Dohne Merino breeders, industry experts and enthusiasts together from around the world. The opening day carries presentations from geneticists, animal health practitioners, breeders and management specialists, followed by technical discussions and a general meeting of all the international Dohne Merino societies present, and the second day continues the programme before a gala event celebrating the breed’s progress. An extended programme from 22 to 25 October takes guests on a tour of Dohne farms in the Overberg and the agricultural landscape of Bredasdorp and Cape Agulhas, and a post-conference tour of central and eastern South Africa is planned for 26 to 31 October.
